Classical Composers

Renaissance heralded the first classical composers of record.

Baroque

The Baroque period was popularized by Bach and others of the era.

Classical Music

Classical music became mainstream through composers like Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn.

The Romantic period beginning in the early 1800s combines known classical musicians such as Johannes Brahms with more popular classical musicians who appeared late in the period such as Gustav Humperdinck.

Richard Wagner became more popular today because of his music being featured in film and other media.

Classical Composers

Although Bach who lived in the early 1700s and created famous works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, the Well-Tempered Clavier, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor may be considered one of the most influential classical musicians of all time in the Baroque era of music, there are also more modern day composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Burt Bacharach, Scott Joplin (ragtime) and John Williams among others who have helped define modern classical and other styles of music.
